Oak Ridge United Methodist Church is located in a small town just north of Greensboro, North Carolina. The surrounding community and the church are both rapidly growing. ORUMC currently has just over 1,400 members with an average of 505 in worship on Sundays. The church is orthodox and evangelical in theology with a passion for outreach, missions, discipleship, fellowship, and worship. The church has operated an on-site day care since 1968. ORUMC opened a 28,000 square foot Family Life Center in November 2013, with a goal of continuing to build a strong youth program in it along with other ministries.

Audiovisual Producer of Music and Worship Arts

Oak Ridge United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Audiovisual Producer of Music and Worship
Arts to provide audiovisual elements in both traditional and contemporary worship settings. The ideal
candidate will have excellent communication skills and technical knowledge of production equipment,
software, and procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Audiovisual Producer of Music and Worship Arts
Reports To: Senior Pastor and works with Director of Adult Choirs and Director of Contemporary Music
Job Summary: The Audiovisual Producer of Music and Worship Arts shall be a well-trained individual
committed to Jesus Christ and to both the traditional and contemporary worship experience of all age
groups of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church (ORUMC). This person shall possess the administrative
and organizational skills necessary to perform the prescribed duties and shall have interpersonal and
communication skills that adapt to youth and adults. The Producer shall possess Christian spiritual
maturity suitable for a leadership role in the United Methodist Church.
Job Purpose: To glorify God through audiovisual components and serve the congregation of ORUMC by
ensuring the worship arts program contributes to an inspiring worship experience; to provide
audiovisual elements in both a traditional and contemporary worship setting; to encourage and engage
youth and adults to participate in the worship service through the audiovisual ministry; and to create
both technically and spiritually satisfying experiences for both program participants as well as worship
congregants.
Type: Part-time; 10-12 hrs/week. Required days and times as follows with other hours to be made up as
needed:
Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm
Thursdays from 6:30-8pm
Sundays from 8am-12:30pm


Primary Duties:
1. Recruit, develop and lead the audiovisual team to provide technical leadership in worship and
other events as directed by the Director of Adult Choirs or the Director of Contemporary Music.
Coordinate and schedule activities with pastors, praise band, tech team and other participants
as required.
2.Train and/or approve properly-trained audiovisual personnel for both the traditional and
contemporary worship services to best utilize existing technology including sound, projection
(both slides and environmental), video, lights, camera and graphics presentation, all designed to
enhance the worship experience. Assign personnel opportunities to perform according to their
training, background and spiritual gifts.
3. Assist in the creation of worship slides (songs, readings, scriptures, announcements, etc.) each
week using ProPresenter. Incorporate environmental projection as appropriate. Create and/or
find backgrounds/graphics appropriate to the worship service.
4. Provide audiovisual assistance for other worship settings or other services related to the church
year (i.e., Ash Wednesday or Christmas Eve). Such involvement will be planned and coordinated
with the Director of Adult Choirs or the Director of Contemporary Music.
5. Serve as part of the ORUMC staff team and assist in overseeing, coordinating, guiding,
implementing, and evaluating various elements of the church’s traditional and contemporary
worship, with focus on all audiovisual elements. Provide traditional and contemporary technical
guidance and knowledge to staff and lay people to support worship and fellowship experiences.
Provide audiovisual oversight, as needed, in sanctuary.
6. Communicate regularly and consistently with office staff and Pastors regarding both the Sunday
traditional and contemporary services.
7. Work to train other users and groups, such as Vacation Bible School techs or any community
groups, in proper use of audiovisual equipment when needed.
8. Remain aware of current technical trends and innovative use of technology in worship. Seek to
further skills through continuing education, workshops, etc.
9. Participate in other activities as needed and directed by the Director of Adult Choirs or the
Director of Contemporary Music.


Qualifications / Skills:
- High level of proficiency running sound a must, preferably with a digital console.
- Working knowledge of other production skills: lighting, cameras, projection, etc.
- Working towards Associate’s Degree in Entertainment Technology or other related field;
equivalent experience may be considered.
- Familiarity with project software, ProPresenter a plus.
- Familiarity with environmental projection a plus.
- Familiarity with graphic design a plus.
- Team building experience a plus; previous experience with traditional and contemporary
Christian worship preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
