Christian character is taught and developed through participation in the Children Choir Program. Parents of all choristers are encouraged to serve as choir helper by assisting the director (by taking attendance, bathroom/water breaks, and with choir parties). Our Children's Choir presents a musical at the end of the school year and presents a special Christmas program each year. Also, the Children's Choir sings once a month for worship.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)
“We at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church believe that we have a God given responsibility along with parents to "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." We at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church also believe that we have the responsibility to help lay a spiritually solid foundation in which children can grow into their own faith. One of the ways we do this is through our Children’s Music and Worship Arts Ministries. Through this program, Oak Ridge United Methodist Church seeks to educate our children by discovering, developing, and perfecting their various God-given gifts in the many worship arts of the church in a Christian environment. Children have the opportunity to cultivate their various talents through singing, ringing bells, and drama so that they might know our risen Lord more fully. In worship we create an atmosphere that is spiritually moving by celebrating, remembering, teaching, and experiencing. The children use these various gifts in order that they might help participate and lead in the worship and glory of Almighty God as we, together, proclaim the love, redemption, power, and work of the Holy Spirit through the Worship Arts.”
