What have we learned this week?

Our High Seas Expedition was a HUGE success again! We had over 460 folks total; 145 day time kids; 15 youth daytime volunteers; 70 adult nighttime volunteers; 10 youth volunteers; and over 200 nighttime kids; plus our new members class of 16 folks and our leadership team.

  • VBS isn’t all about fun, it is about the opportunity to reach kids of all ages and teach them about the love of Jesus. We had so many "God Sightings" this past week, I would like to highlight just a few...
  • Children helping each other tie knots in the blankets to go to the Aids Orphanage in Guatemala and praying for each child that receives a blanket to be blessed.
  • Pre-school Zoodling in the "sea" of blue whip cream and being able to tell me what the cookie, gummy worm and blue means…aka story of the ocean, and island and a snake that bit Paul.
  • Pre-school kids who are strangers on Sunday, holding hands by Tuesday and hugging goodbye.
  • A special drawing from a restaurant menu of our set by one of our Kindergarten kids.
  • Cannons, confusion and Karen, oh how we love her…just check out Day 3 above!
  • Songs, laughter, hugs and the awesome smiles of kids and adults who have been touched by our quirky leadership team.

A special thanks goes to several folks in particular, Julie Phillips, VBS Director; Cristina Voorheis, Pre-school VBS Director; Ben Williams, Builder Extraordinaire; Richard Phillips, VBS Sponsor Coordinator; Jeff Hallman who put VBS on the web page for families to watch our highlights; to all the youth who helped and led the morning program; my sound board gurus who had to keep up with my ever-changing directions; all the volunteers who helped to keep kids safe and witness to the kids God’s Love; and a extra special thanks to the church family for the support you show our VBS ever year.

Please also thank our many sponsors this year by patronizing them this coming month and let them know you came to the VBS Worship Service!

If you have had fun this week please feel free to come join us each and every Sunday.
