Pwoje Espwa Sud (South Project Hope) is an orphanage in the village of Torbeck, 15 minutes from the city of Les Cayes and was founded by Father Marc Boisvert.  Pwoje Espwa began in a small building that could house 15 children in October 1998.  They soon moved to a larger facility that would house 60 children and staff.  In 2002 they moved to the current site and it is now home to more than 600 children.  Since the earthquake of 2010, Espwa has grown in staff, students, and children due to the amount of displaced people after the devastation.  At Espwa more than 2,200 children are provided with academic and vocational educations and 3,000 meals are prepared daily.  Many of the children at Pwoje Espwa Sud are true orphans and others are there because their parents do not have the means to provide basic necessities.

At Espwa hundreds of children are receiving the care and education they need to fight the vicious cycle of poverty.  Pwoje Espwa, Hope Village, provides hundreds of children with shelter, food, clothing, education, basic medical care and a family. But what they really offer the children of Southern Haiti is HOPE.

Our team’s meals will be prepared by the staff at Espwa and we will stay on site at the guest house.  Our work will be construction and maintenance but the most important thing we do will be sharing our love with the children.  The Espwa staff loves the children dearly but there many more children than staff.  Our team will allocate time daily for playing games, making crafts, laughing, hugging and bonding with the people that matter the most, the children.

What YOU Can Do

  1. Please pray for our team, our mission project and those we serve in Haiti.
  2. Please consider joining the team.3
  3. If you would like to support the children in the orphanage but cannot join the team, please make a donation to the materials fund.  It is very important that we raise money for the construction and maintenance work we will do.  See above for how to prepare and mail your check.
